Dear Lau,
I met one of the residents at the coffee shop, he is complaining the Mat Rempit issue! According to him, due to the straight road leading from 2/149 to Kuchai Lama, the illegal racing by both motorcycle and car had created sharp noise during midnight.
He propose to put up speed breaker such as road hump!
As for myself, due to traffic volume has increased since the opening of the road, the noise is unbearable especially on the wee hours especially around 5.30 to 6am. Normally i woke up this time due to noise.
I m seriuosly thinking of moving out ASAP if i can buy a new house nearby due to the noise. It’s really affected my living stantard!!
DBKL should PUT UP the noise barrier as agreed ASAP!
Other residents might be fed up with current situation and therefore they choose not to do anything even complaining.
I think the noise might not affected 2/149K that much if comparing to 2/149J as their houses stood on the higher groud!

Hand over inspection by DBKL

Letter of issues outstanding
YB and DBKL visited Jalan 2/149 pn Nov 16 2007, Friday morning. The purpose is to ensure all things are in order before approving the hand-over of Jalan 2/149 back to DBKL by Maju Holdings (concessionaire for the highway). However, there are still some unresolved issues with regards to the current traffic, noise and safety. The residents wanted DBKL to ensure these issues are resolved before approving the hand-over.
The inspection team came and greeted by the residents reps and the concessionaire. We highlighted the current issues as per our last request which was not fulfilled. No conclusion could be obtained and the handover of the road back to DBKL could not proceed.
Minister blames residents for causing cracks in their own homes instead!

Cracks begin to appear to the adjacent houses affected by the continuous piling and construction works. In a desperate attempt shed responsibility, the Minister of Works without any investigation puts the blame on the residents for causing the cracks in their own homes
Cracks in the homes …
Subsequently, the residents have agreed to appoint an independent body to investigate the cause of cracks. IKRAM was commissioned to conduct the study. The study results conclusively determined that the cause of cracks in the homes is due to the water table balance. This effect of caisson digging have pumped out the water from the ground which has destabilize the soil and cause the nearby homes to sink and crack!

adequate land was available then
resident wrote letter to LLM to advice them to ensure adequate buffer zone since there is land (1997)
project was shelved due to economic crisis
DBKL approved housing project when they should have reserved the land for highway
houses built and sold to unsuspecting buyers
land was 'lost' in the process due to authorities blunder
project is bulldozed through despite protest for safety
project is in breach of their own guidelinesIsn't it ironic?
LLM, DBKL, DOE say they are not aware about the sheer proximity of the highway to the homes!
A resident has written to the authorities way back in 1997 to realign the Right Of Way of the highway to utilize the undeveloped Zone N. [click here to see the letter and how it fell on deaf ears of the authorities]
The developer of Zone N (Petaling Garden Berhad) managed to obtain approval to build houses along a path of designated federal highway. How can that be?
