It has been 2 months since Oct 15 when the city council appointed IKRAM to conduct an independant study on the cause of cracks in the houses. The much anticipated results are finally out. The residents representatives gathered at City Hall on 13 December 2005 at 3.30pm.
Members from DBKL, LLM, IKRAM and KL-Putrajaya Highway concessionaire was also present at the meeting. During the meeting we continued to voice our concern on safety, repair, design and even acquiring houses topic but to Datuk Bandar the primary focus for the meeting is on the house crack phenomenal and how to repair the crack houses.
The report compiled is favourable to the residents but DBKL will not issue any stop work order as the construction
works will not further deteriorate the existing condition of the houses. We were not given the opportunity to read the full details of the report.
As a summary, ALL the houses affected will be repaired at the cost of the contractor (KLT). The houses experienced severe cracks will require major rebuilding on its original and extended structures. The details of the proposed repair works will be furnished by DBKL and the contractor after the residents accept the offer. The reply should be decided in less than 2 weeks time.
As a reminder, apart from addressing the issue of cracked houses resulting from the construction, our main focus is to request the Malaysian Government to compensate us the victims on loss of property value, inconveniences, safety and health issues. We are also aware that the chances of stopping this KLIA-PUTRAJAYA Highway is very slim indeed.
A residents briefing on these issues will held soon to discuss the proposal and meeting that was held.
