KL-PUTRAJAYA HIGHWAY – Letter from Malaysian Institute of Architects
We refer to the above matter and are pleased to forward you a reply from Malaysian Institute of Architects (Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia - PAM).
The short reply from PAM clearly states that Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has clearly made a mistake in citing Section 32 (i) of Uniform Building Bylaw (UBBL) for the setback of 2.3m along Jalan 2/149. As we have highlighted earlier, the Section 32(i) of UBBL is only meant for setback between residential buildings.
As you may recall, LLM in its reply to us dated 5 September 2005, claimed that they are complying with the 2.3m setback stipulated in the UBBL and imposed by City Hall (DBKL). However, the same was denied by Y.Bhg. Datuk Bandar in his meeting with us on 14 September 2005. Y. Bhg. Datuk Bandar further stated that they did not approve the 2.3m setback and it is also their view that the setback requirement cannot apply on elevated highway.
We have also brought up this issue of “misinterpreting” the bylaw to YB. Minister of Works in our meeting with him on 19 October 2005. However, we have yet to receive any response on this issue.
